Republic Day celebrations began in a big way last Wednesday when the management of De Nu Pub in Woodbrook hosted its Pre-Republic Day Kaisoca Rapso Concert. It was a double celebration as it also celebarted the birthday of Nu Pub director Roderick Ward. The star studded cast included 3Canal, Denyse Plummer, Bro Valentino, Luta, Devon Seale, Sprangalang and Cummings &?D Wailers.
A number of prominent cultural folk were in attendance including Trinbago Unified Calypso Organisation (Tuco) president Lutalo "Bro Resistance"?Masimba; Pan Trinbago vice president Bryon Serrette; Mervyn Telfer; Pelham Goddard; calypsonians Twiggy, Bro Superior, SuperBlue, Explainer, Versatile, D Diamond and Doppy"?Dopson; rapso artiste Karega Mandela; and, foreign-based drummer Eddie Johnson, son of popular local husband and wife duet Ed and Angela Johnson.
Live entertainment continues at De Nu Pub next Wednesday, with another top notch cast of performers listed to celebrate calypsonian King Soul birthday. Hosted by Tuco?North Zone, billed to peform are Cro Cro, Bro Valentino, Bally, Johnny King, Gary Cordner, Versatile, Kassman, Errol Bailey, Gary Hercules, De Hot One and others. Another special birthday concert scheduled for this birthplace is Explainer's celebration, scheduled for November 7.
