Tobago House of Assembly chief secretary Orville London, who is soon to name a THA?election date, has warned PNMites that the next three months will be very challenging for them. "But I am heartened by what I see here today!"?London said addressing supporters at yesterday's PNM convention at the Grand Stand, Queen's Park Savannah, Port-of-Spain.
London dissolved the THA last Thursday and elections are to be held between December 25 and January 25, 2013. He told PNMites that what happens in Tobago over the next few months-with the THA elections-will decide the destiny of T&T for generations to come.
"The choice is clear. It is a choice between decency, dignity and the protection of democracy against deceit, disrespect and contempt," he said. London called on supporters at the convention to use the camaraderie of the moment for Tobago's betterment. He said the mantra for the period for all PNMites must be "Talk to a Tobagonian."
He warned that supporters must not allow UNC politics to become entrenched in Trinidad or be introduced in Tobago, "We must send the signal in Tobago!" he added. London said certain people and institutions including himself were targeted by the People's Partnership (PP) administration. He said whatever lawsuits the PP came with he remained a "proud, stubborn Tobagonian."
London said the TOP was being used as puppets by the PP which was sending "people into the firing line." He said anyone who interfered with the PP was viewed as "expendable." He said "expendables" included sacked Justice Minister Herbert Volney, fired minister Colin Partap and dismissed minister Mary King.
He said the PP also had untouchables. He said the PP?had boasted of caring for Tobago, but the reduced allocations for scholarships and other programmes which the THA received showed they did not care.
