T&T's men's tennis team qualified to play in next year's Americas Group III of the Davis Cup when Panama defeated the US Virgin Islands 2-1 at the Club de Tenis Santa Cruz in Bolivia on Friday.With T&T having already beaten US VI 2-1 on Thursday, Panama's win meant that T&T secured a place in the top two of Group IV, which consists of just three teams.T&T and Panama were set to play yesterday evening in the final match of the group.In Friday's match, 34-year-old Carlos Silva beat 26-year-old Kristepher Elien 7-5, 6-4 to give Panama a 1-0 advantage before 23-year-old Alberto Gonzalez made it 2-0 with a 6-3, 6-0 whipping of Brian Oldfield. US VI salvaged some pride when their doubles team of Elien and Nicholas Bass beat Silva's twin brother John and Juan Jose Fuentes 6-4, 6-4.
