T&T's men's ten­nis team qual­i­fied to play in next year's Amer­i­c­as Group III of the Davis Cup when Pana­ma de­feat­ed the US Vir­gin Is­lands 2-1 at the Club de Te­nis San­ta Cruz in Bo­livia on Fri­day.With T&T hav­ing al­ready beat­en US VI 2-1 on Thurs­day, Pana­ma's win meant that T&T se­cured a place in the top two of Group IV, which con­sists of just three teams.T&T and Pana­ma were set to play yes­ter­day evening in the fi­nal match of the group.In Fri­day's match, 34-year-old Car­los Sil­va beat 26-year-old Kris­tepher Elien 7-5, 6-4 to give Pana­ma a 1-0 ad­van­tage be­fore 23-year-old Al­ber­to Gon­za­lez made it 2-0 with a 6-3, 6-0 whip­ping of Bri­an Old­field. US VI sal­vaged some pride when their dou­bles team of Elien and Nicholas Bass beat Sil­va's twin broth­er John and Juan Jose Fuentes 6-4, 6-4.
