For­mer UNC leader Bas­deo Pan­day be­lieves Works Min­is­ter Jack Warn­er can­not re­main in the PP Gov­ern­ment with cred­i­bil­i­ty any longer. Com­ment­ing on the sit­u­a­tion con­cern­ing fresh rev­e­la­tions about Warn­er, he added: "The In­tegri­ty Com­mis­sion may prob­a­bly be in­ter­est­ed in whether he has de­clared this FI­FA in­come we have now heard about.

"I'd have thought the Prime Min­is­ter would have no choice now but to ask him to re­sign. How can the pub­lic be ex­pect­ed to con­tin­ue to ac­cept his pres­ence pre­sid­ing over bil­lions of dol­lars worth of tax­pay­ers funds with the cur­rent sit­u­a­tion fac­ing him?"

Pan­day added: "A res­ig­na­tion from Warn­er will give the Gov­ern­ment an op­por­tu­ni­ty to start afresh but one won­ders if the Prime Min­is­ter has the guts to do it." He said he be­lieved Warn­er "made a deal" with FI­FA to re­sign on the probe in­to bribery al­le­ga­tions. T&T Trans­paren­cy In­sti­tute's Richard Joseph said the in­sti­tute was main­tain­ing its call for Warn­er to step down while any probes in­to his sit­u­a­tion were on­go­ing. (GA)
