W Con­nec­tion teenaged star Zaine Pierre will be hop­ing to land a pro­fes­sion­al con­tract with Italy's Se­rie A club Genoa, when he un­der­takes a two-week tri­al stint there short­ly. The 17-year-old, who has had sev­er­al tri­al stints in the past at British and Amer­i­can clubs, will leave here Sat­ur­day for the north-west­ern Ital­ian club which will be cov­er­ing all the play­er's ex­pens­es. W Con­nec­tion own­er David John-Williams said the move was an­oth­er im­por­tant one in help­ing Pierre to fur­ther his ca­reer.

"He has the ex­pe­ri­ence of be­ing on tri­als with some of the top clubs in Eng­land and the USA while he was still 16 years old so that will serve him in good stead," John-Williams said. "Pierre may still be a teenag­er but I'm con­fi­dent that he will give a good ac­count of him­self know­ing that he has a chance to play for one of the top clubs in Ital­ian foot­ball." On­ly last year, Pierre en­joyed stints at top Eng­lish Pre­mier­ship clubs Ar­se­nal, Man­ches­ter City, Liv­er­pool and Tot­ten­ham Spurs and trav­elled to the Unit­ed States ear­li­er this year for tri­als with US Ma­jor League Soc­cer club, San Jose Earth­quakes.
