Are we living in the jungle, in the heart of Africa, where wild animals come into your villages to maul and kill people? Can anyone really imagine what it must be like to be attacked by a ferocious animal? For your body to be torn to pieces while you fight for your life? How adults are traumatised by this terrible experience, as they look on helplessly, fearful for their own lives?
How it must impact on the minds of our young children who witness their neighbours being savaged by these brutal beasts, which we refer to as pets? We ban cockfighting because it's considered inhumane, but we are quite prepared to allow the importation of these dangerous dogs, under the guise that they are for our protection. I think I would prefer to be shot and killed by a bandit than to be ripped to shreds by a killer dog.
