Male bea­gle Tank strut­ted his stuff and walked away with the top prize, Best in Show, at the ninth an­nu­al Hound Dog Walk or­gan­ised by the Nar­i­va/Ma­yaro Hunters As­so­ci­a­tion at the bpTT Ma­yaro Re­source Cen­tre last Sat­ur­day. Un­der the ex­pert han­dling of John Fe­lix, of Paramin, the well-groomed Tank was a triple cham­pi­on, al­so top­ping the cat­e­gories of male bea­gle and over­all bea­gle. Hun­dreds of dog lovers and hunters from all parts of Trinidad, in­clud­ing Paramin, Diego Mar­tin, San­gre Grande, Man­zanil­la, Cunu­pia, Preysal, Ce­dros and Rio Claro, were treat­ed to a top qual­i­ty dog show, de­scribed as the biggest in the land. Renowned chief judge Tim Lumkin had a dif­fi­cult task of se­lect­ing win­ners in the var­i­ous cat­e­gories.

Rose, su­per­vised by teenag­er Ha­roon Ali of Bris­tol Vil­lage, ate her way to the du­bi­ous ti­tle of Greed­i­est Dog, de­vour­ing a plate­ful of chow in no time, to rau­cous sup­port from the crowd. Daren Ali, pres­i­dent, Nar­i­va/ Ma­yaro Hunters As­so­ci­a­tion was pleased with how the show turned out, not­ing that it gave hunters an op­por­tu­ni­ty to groom their dogs for the up­com­ing hunt­ing sea­son. He thanked the spon­sors-Barkkin Dogs Lim­it­ed, Eu­kanu­ba, Pu­ri­na, Cameron (Trinidad) Ltd, Al­fred Bib­by and Co, HMS En­ter­pris­es, B&L Sup­port Ser­vices, Vin­cent Be­ne­sario, Glenn White­man, VJM Ser­vices and Vish Hard­ware, for mak­ing the show a huge suc­cess.
