Five suspects are expected to appear before an Arima magistrate today charged with the murder of retired Assistant Police Commissioner Cecil Carrington. Carrington, who had been a member of the infamous Flying Squad, was shot dead at his Manzanilla establishment, Carrie's On The Bay, last January 28.Two male suspects were seen fleeing the scene in a heavily-tinted SUV shortly after gunshots were heard coming from the beachhouse apartment building.Police said the suspects, between the ages of 20 and 30, were held between Saturday and Sunday at the Congo in Arima.Investigators said they received "good information" and the vehicle was traced.Officers yesterday visited the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for instructions ton how to proceed.One of the suspects surrendered to the officers at the Region Two, Homicide Bureau, on Monday, in the company of his lawyer.Carrington also headed the Anti-Kidnapping Squad, the North Eastern Division and the Criminal Intelligence Division.One of his high-profile cases involved the killing of state witness Clint Huggins in the famous Dole Chadee murder case.Sources said Justice of the Peace Akbar Khan took statements from witnesses at the Homicide Bureau on Monday.
