Dwight Quintero emerged the star player for El Dorado East Secondary as his two goals came off blunders by opposing goalkeeper Romario Romaine, which helped his team seal a 3-0 win over Trinity College East in the East Zone in the BGTT/First Citizen Secondary Schools Football League, yesterday.
This was in the opening match of a double-header played at the Larry Gomes Stadium in Malabar, Arima.
Play in the first half was evenly matched until Quintero scored the opener a minute before halftime. He completed the goal after Romaine was unable to hold on to the ball despite a brilliant save moments before.
Bethelmy, who is El Do's second leading goal-scorer with six behind teammate Shaquille Bertrand (8), got the Blue Thunder's second item, 19 minutes into the second session, connecting a penalty. Quintero's second item was similiar to his first with keeper Romain again being unable to secure the ball properly and the former managed to slip the ball past him off the rebound. Quintero remains the third highest scorer for "El Do" with his double moving his tally of goals to five. Over in Toco, the hosts held San Juan North, to a 2-2 draw.
