A 29-year-old La Ro­maine man was up to yes­ter­day fight­ing for his life af­ter he was chopped sev­er­al time dur­ing a dis­pute with an­oth­er man. Chyanne Cum­ber­batch was lim­ing at Coo­ra Road, Siparia, at around 5.40 pm when he and an­oth­er man got in­to an ar­gu­ment.

Po­lice said the man, who was armed with a cut­lass, be­gan to beat Cum­ber­batch about the body with the weapon. He al­so chopped him, in­jur­ing him on his neck, face and fin­gers. Cum­ber­batch was rushed to the San Fer­nan­do Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal where he re­mains in se­ri­ous con­di­tion. Cpl Ram­s­ingh of the Siparia Po­lice Sta­tion ar­rest­ed a 24-year-old man from the area.
