Super centenarian Edna Rojas, 105, the mother of T&T artist Peter Rojas, passed on peacefully at her Harbour Front View, Westmoorings home, on November 16.A grieving Rojas said: "Mummy, will be missed by all. She was a dear and wonderful human being. We thank God for blessing her with long life."Peter Rojas reflected on the exhibition he had staged in her honour "Being 99: A Look At Love And Art". It ran for just three hours, but during that time artist Peter Rojas sold 17 of his 21 paintings. The show took place at DH Gift, The Atrium, at the Falls, West Mall, Westmoorings. He had flown in from Spain for her milestone. Rojas had flown in from Marbella, Spain, to be with her and her loved ones.
His sister Ave Hive said: "She was a darling. We are hurting but we are grateful we had her for such a long time." Rojas was born in Sangre Grande. In 1915, the family moved to Port-of-Spain. She was the beloved wife of the late John Henry Rojas and her children were other children were Andre (deceased), Peter, Gerard, David, Don, Brian (deceased) and Ave. She will also be mourned by her grandchi­ldren Jeremy, Anna, Jason, Kristin, Danielle, Shane, Shannon and Sarah.
Rojas' funeral takes place at St Finbar's RC Church, Morne Coco Road, Diego Martin, at 10:30 am and thence to the Lapeyrouse Cemetery. A collection will be taken for the St Finbar Ryan Geriatric Home.
