Su­per cen­te­nar­i­an Ed­na Ro­jas, 105, the moth­er of T&T artist Pe­ter Ro­jas, passed on peace­ful­ly at her Har­bour Front View, West­moor­ings home, on No­vem­ber 16.A griev­ing Ro­jas said: "Mum­my, will be missed by all. She was a dear and won­der­ful hu­man be­ing. We thank God for bless­ing her with long life."Pe­ter Ro­jas re­flect­ed on the ex­hi­bi­tion he had staged in her ho­n­our "Be­ing 99: A Look At Love And Art". It ran for just three hours, but dur­ing that time artist Pe­ter Ro­jas sold 17 of his 21 paint­ings. The show took place at DH Gift, The Atri­um, at the Falls, West Mall, West­moor­ings. He had flown in from Spain for her mile­stone. Ro­jas had flown in from Mar­bel­la, Spain, to be with her and her loved ones.

His sis­ter Ave Hive said: "She was a dar­ling. We are hurt­ing but we are grate­ful we had her for such a long time." Ro­jas was born in San­gre Grande. In 1915, the fam­i­ly moved to Port-of-Spain. She was the beloved wife of the late John Hen­ry Ro­jas and her chil­dren were oth­er chil­dren were An­dre (de­ceased), Pe­ter, Ger­ard, David, Don, Bri­an (de­ceased) and Ave. She will al­so be mourned by her grand­chi­ldren Je­re­my, An­na, Ja­son, Kristin, Danielle, Shane, Shan­non and Sarah.

Ro­jas' fu­ner­al takes place at St Fin­bar's RC Church, Morne Co­co Road, Diego Mar­tin, at 10:30 am and thence to the Lapey­rouse Ceme­tery. A col­lec­tion will be tak­en for the St Fin­bar Ryan Geri­atric Home.
