The preliminary round will begin with three double-headers at three venues. "This has been a challenging year to say the least for the T&T Pro League and T&T football on the whole, but all that has happened is that our resolve has been strengthened," said Skeene to the representatives of the Pro League and Super League clubs. "Trinidad and Tobago's football will rise like a phoenix from the ashes," said Skeene, in an attempt to reassure local football fans that the sport will return to it's best within time for the following World Cup in 2018. He said: "The current situation facing T&T football in general affords us the opportunity to create the future. How we move forward, how we learn and how we improve is much more important than wallowing in self pity, lack of confidence and despair." Marketing Officer Toyota Trinidad and Tobago Limited-Sean Shaffie urged that corporate T&T comes on board, like Toyota, pledging to support local football in its development.
The conference concluded with Shaffie handing over the sponsorship cheque valued at $60,000 to Skeene.
