Na­tion­al bats­man Justin Guillen copped the Crick­eter of the Year award at Queen's Park Crick­et Club 2011 awards func­tion held on Wednes­day night at the Queen's Park Oval.Guillen who was re­cent­ly cho­sen on the T&T T20 squad, re­plac­ing Daren Gan­ga, was cap­tain of QPCC dur­ing the 2011 sea­son and led them to all three ti­tles.A styl­ish open­ing bats­man, Guillen av­er­aged 40.00 and in all three com­pe­ti­tions scored a to­tal of 719 runs. He pro­duced two bril­liant cen­turies against Cen­tral Sports 169 and Moo­sai 101. His 89 against Clarke Road in the T20 com­pe­ti­tion and his 45 in the fi­nals against Pow­er­Gen showed his prowess at the T20 lev­el.This was one of the high­lights of the club's pre­sen­ta­tion, which was held in the dis­tin­guished pres­ence of His Ex­cel­len­cy, pres­i­dent George Maxwell Richards and his wife, Dr Jean Ramjohn-Richards, mem­bers of the Diplo­mat­ic corps and a large gath­er­ing of club mem­bers.

The Youth Crick­eter of the Year was na­tion­al play­er Akeal Ho­sein, who scored 556 runs in the three com­pe­ti­tions. He al­so cap­tured 15 wick­ets with his left arm or­tho­dox spin. Ho­sein al­so rep­re­sent­ed the West In­dies youth team on a tour of In­dia.The Squash Play­er of the Year award went to Kale Wil­son who won the Na­tion­al and Caribbean Un­der 19 cham­pi­onship. The top ju­nior squash play­er was Char­lotte Knag­gs, the Caribbean Un­der 17 cham­pi­on. She was fifth in the On­tario Gold event and fol­lowed up with a quar­ter­fi­nal ap­pear­ance in the Cana­di­an Ju­nior Open tour­na­ment. She topped her squash per­for­mance with her scholas­tic ef­forts with the Squash Schol­ar Ath­lete Chal­lenge Tro­phy for 2011.

Foot­baller of the Year went to Ja­son De­venish whose tech­ni­cal skill, cre­ativ­i­ty and abil­i­ty to get in­to the op­po­nents box to score made him the coach­es choice for the play­er of the year. The ju­nior award in foot­ball was col­lect­ed by Kee­gan Rat­tan.Dar­ren Cowie af­ter a steady sea­son took the hock­ey ti­tle. The Parkites cap­tain led T&T to the Pan Am games and re­turned to Trinidad to led QPCC to a strong show­ing both in­doors and out­doors.Mean­while, An­ton Gopauls­ingh was recog­nised for his un­tir­ing ef­forts in pro­mot­ing the qual­i­ty of the club's squash com­mit­tee and the gen­er­al mem­ber­ship sub-com­mit­tee.This is in ad­di­tion to his ex­treme­ly heavy pro­fes­sion­al com­mit­ments.
