The University of Southern Caribbean (USC) was no contest for the University of the West Indies (UWI) as the latter emerged with an easy 44-21 victory in the Alternative Division of the Courts All Sectors Netball League.This was on Monday night at the Eastern Regional Indoor Sports Arena in Tacarigua.Leading the way for the UWI team were shooters Daniella Santana with 19 goals from 32 attempts and Jamiyla Muhammed with 17 off 25.
UWI controlled throughout, holding a 7-5 advantage in the first quarter, 17-11 at the half and 30-17 in the third.Gabrielle Gooding was the main scorer for USC with 13 from 26.On Saturday in the Championship Division, Defence Force and the University of T&T (UTT) celebrated victories against Fire Y and Police, respectively.The army/coastguard combination unit stopped Fire, 43-30 thanks to shooting from goal-attack Anastacia Wilson (27/34) and goal-shooter Karlene Sylvester (16/28).
Goal-shooter Nariba Grant netted the bulk of Fire's goals with 26 off 48 in a match in which her team trailed for entire match, 9-6, 17-12 and 31-23.UTT's victory came as a result of duo goal-attack Jillisa Allan (30/42) and goal-shooter Janelle Barker (13/20).Experienced player Euphemia Huggins matched Allan with 30 goals of her own from 44 tries but it was not enough.
