A letter from the management said CEPEP was to carry out specified work in the communities which was extended to a fixed term at the end of which contracting companies would be weaned away to make room for other contracting companies.CEPEP chairman Adesh Deonarine said some of the workers would be absorbed under new contractors while others would be assisted.He added: "We are trying to accommodate the workers with the new contractors.
The problem is that they are not employed with us. We can't force the contractors to work with them. "People were living off the programme and we realise it was unfair to all the other businessmen. Deonarine said CEPEP started a separation programme to give new contractors the opportunity to serve.Councillor for the area Philip Murray and MP Amery Browne were not available for comment.
