Mem­bers of the Spir­i­tu­al Bap­tist faith are now ap­peal­ing for a school in South Trinidad, and one in Cen­tral. The ap­peal was made yes­ter­day by head of the St Ann's Church of the Spir­i­tu­al Meta­physics in McBean, Cou­va, Bish­op Patrick Brown, as he spoke with the me­dia, af­ter the con­gre­ga­tion held a pro­ces­sion from the church to De­onar­ine Junc­tion. Brown said more schools were need­ed be­cause the Bap­tist com­mu­ni­ty was grow­ing. He said more young peo­ple were turn­ing to the faith. He said his church planned to open a school of the­ol­o­gy and start a youth group to en­sure its younger mem­bers were ed­u­cat­ed in the faith.

Brown al­so called on par­ents to en­sure that they in­stilled a strict sense of dis­ci­pline in their chil­dren.

He said while par­ents should love their chil­dren, they should not spoil them and in the end cre­ate an­oth­er gen­er­a­tion of undis­ci­plined young peo­ple. He said said the coun­try was on the right track and that crime had de­creased a "lit­tle bit." Brown said yes­ter­day's Spir­i­tu­al Bap­tiste Lib­er­a­tion Day hol­i­day was a tremen­dous achieve­ment for the com­mu­ni­ty, since it rep­re­sent­ed the free­dom of the Shouter Bap­tists to prac­tise their re­li­gion freely and with the high­est lev­el of dig­ni­ty.
