Participating in performing arts activities offers an invaluable opportunity for children to enhance their self-esteem, develop a strong sense of identity, and refine their problem-solving skills.

The integration of these elements fosters an increase in confidence among young performers. Contrary to common belief, confidence is not inherently possessed by performers; rather, it is cultivated over time through the process of stepping outside one's comfort zone, taking initiative, and honing specific talents.

On December 1, the pupils of Curepe Fatima RC School showcased their exceptional abilities during their biannual Christmas concert.

The event, themed "A Trini Christmas Carol", presented a Trinidadian interpretation of the classic tale of Ebenezer Scrooge. Its central message emphasised the importance of spreading joy during the Christmas season by encouraging the spirit of giving in celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ.

The concert also aligned with the Ministry of Education's Cultural Transformation agenda, highlighting the children's talents through song, dance, and drama. The success of this production was made possible through the dedicated support of the parents and the extensive training provided by the class teachers, under the guidance of principal Ms Alicia Clasp-Gooding.—Mary Cuffy
