“You are blessed and highly favoured,” is the uplifting message that award-winning gospel entertainer Alyssa Joseph, 19, is sharing through her latest release Favor.
Joseph declares victory in the inspiring new song, which centres on walking in God’s favour even when others try to block your blessings. At a time when many people are facing uncertainty and pressure, Joseph offers reassurance through a message of divine reversal.
She sings, “They tried to write me off, but the story changed. When heaven touched the page, everything rearranged.
“Favor is for anybody who ever felt overlooked, discouraged or like people were trying to count them out,” says Joseph.
“I wanted this song to remind them that God always has the final word, and what He has for you cannot be blocked by people.”
Coming into her own, Joseph is now part of the Island Tribe Collective and is represented by Twelve18 Collective and FlowMasters Records. She’s among the first young artistes from Trinidad and Tobago to receive global distribution through Wings Group, positioning her for a growing international platform as she takes her music beyond the Caribbean.
More than a single, Favor is Joseph’s testimony. While some of her previous work called listeners to hold on, this release goes a step further. It stands in the aftermath of the struggle and declares that God can turn setbacks into progress.
“This song is really about victory after pressure,” she explained.
“Sometimes you go through things that make you question yourself, but God can flip every painful moment and use it for His glory. That’s the spirit behind Favor.”
She added: “We need more love; there is far too much hate in this world, and we must support one another. In every walk of life, whether professional, social, or creative, never try to hurt others to get ahead. Instead, lift your brothers and sisters up rather than fighting them down.”
Joseph’s inspiring journey has carried strong positive messages through music from a very young age. She first gained national attention at age nine with Cry For Peace, and has since continued to build a catalogue of faith-based, message-driven songs including Don’t Give Up, No Weapon, Kingdom Daughter, and most recently, Revival, a stirring call for spiritual renewal in the face of violence and national unrest.
In 2022, she captured both Junior Grand Vocalist and Junior Grand Champion of the World titles at the World Championships of Performing Arts in Los Angeles while attached to the Candice Clarke Academy of Dance. She later earned National Youth of the Year and National Youth of Arts and Culture honours, won the Lyrical Impact Award at the Jamaican PAJE Media Awards, and picked up two awards at the Gospel Music Awards of Trinidad and Tobago.
Last year, Joseph walked away with two major prizes at the Caribbean Gospel Music Marlin Awards in The Bahamas, where she received an additional plaque for her hit single No Weapon after it spent two weeks at number one on the Next Level Gospel Entertainment 868 The Gospel chart on Tempo.
“I’m very thankful for every opportunity and every award, because they remind me that hard work, faith and consistency matter,” Joseph said.
“But for me, the greatest reward is knowing that my music can encourage someone and point them closer to God.”
With Favor, Joseph continues to show that her music is not only about sounding good, but saying something that can meet people where they are.
The Favor music video is directed by her manager Petra Joseph, shot and edited by K M’wai Films, and features actors Justin Joseph, Arielle Hospedales, Wendy Hospedales and Anya Bidaisee, with choreography by Shaakir “Turbo” Griffith and the Zerolimits dancers.
Enjoying God’s abundant favour, Joseph has been heavily involved in media interviews and performances, including an appearance on CNC3’s Morning Brew on May 8, hosted by Jason “JW” Williams; performances at the TATIL Insurance Award Ceremony, Point Fortin Corporation Christian Night and Tiffany B Woman’s Conference; and preparations for upcoming tours: Echoes of Possibility workshop, seminar, showcase and live recording in Jamaica (August), and God of the Islands 2026 in Tortola, St Lucia, St Vincent, Grenada and Barbados (October–November).
She has also been nominated for International Female Soloist of the Year for the Texas Gospel Music Excellence Awards 2027.
