Pleasantville Secondary School marked its 50th anniversary with a tea party and fashion show, “Blushes of Elegance”, at the Petrotrin Staff Club in Pointe-à-Pierre on Saturday, September 26.
Students traded their school uniforms for fashionable attire as they took to the runway under the creative direction of Jaqui Koonhow and stylist Larry Rampersad.
Former Minister of Education Hazel Manning, patron of honour for the event, was among the guests who attended the celebration. She watched as students modelled a variety of designs during the fashion showcase.
Guests also embraced the event’s pink-themed atmosphere, with many wearing shades of pink in recognition of breast cancer awareness.
Music formed another part of the afternoon’s programme, with violinist Anselm Walters and vocalist Joel John providing entertainment for patrons.
The fashion show featured creations from several local designers and boutiques, including Zadd & Eastman, Tobye Gill, Anicia Brooks, Jebelle Boutique, Larry Rampersad, Ann Marie Gopaul and Blaine Khan.
The celebration combined fashion, music and community as Pleasantville Secondary School reflected on five decades of history and achievement, while providing its students with an opportunity to participate in an event beyond the classroom.
