From Lil Sta­tis to Lil’ Rick, Gold­en So­ca 2022 was a movie!

The cast of 17 stel­lar live per­form­ers in­clud­ing three Crop Over mon­archs, two DJ teams, two co-MCS (Jen­nifer Walk­er and Young Ali Singh), a three-mem­ber band (drum­mer Re­nal­do Grif­fith was su­perb); danc­ing, singing, add some rain, light­ning, and um­brel­las to lots of good vibes and you have the right amount of in­gre­di­ents to pro­vide the hun­dreds of pa­trons at­tend­ing the six-hour event held at Ball­park Events and En­ter­tain­ment Cen­tre with every­thing they have come to ex­pect.

Af­ter a two-year break ow­ing to the COVID-19 pan­dem­ic, reg­u­lar and new pa­trons of all ages had lots to be hap­py about as they par­tied—mind­ful of the pro­to­cols—mask wear­ing, so­cial dis­tanc­ing and stay­ing in bub­bles—from Sat­ur­day evening in­to the wee hours of Sun­day morn­ing to some of this year’s pop­u­lar mu­sic, Crop Over clas­sics and oth­er hits from the re­cent past.

It was vet­er­an DJ and ra­dio an­nounc­er Ad­mi­ral Nel­son and DJ Ger­ald B who got the par­ty start­ed, tak­ing peo­ple on a mu­si­cal jour­ney dur­ing what can be de­scribed as pre-show.
