… from the classroom to the boardroom

With more than 30 years of experience under his belt, Ecliff Elie has earned his reputation as a true connoisseur of men’s sartorial fashion.

In the span of his career, Ecliff Elie rose to the top steadily after first trying his hand at tailoring at the age of 14. Before long, he knew that he possessed a distinctive skill set that would undoubtedly set him apart in the menswear industry - the skill of perfectly fitting the male form, despite the body type. His hard work and astute vision bore fruit, resulting in several signature collections, awards, features and regional acclaim.

Hailing from central Trinidad, Elie launched his company 30 years ago and has become the region’s leading menswear designer sought after by celebrities and businessmen alike.

His clothing has adorned the likes of Bunji Garlin, Machel Montano, Lyrikal, Olatunji Yearwood, and many more, including media personalities such as Dominic Kalipersad, Jason Williams, Sunny Bling and sports celebrities such as Olympian Keshorn Walcott.

However, his bespoke suits are not only for celebrities and businessmen, even the young aspiring graduate can be custom fitted. Jerome Munroe, who was the 2023 Valedictorian of St. Mary’s College, chose a custom Ecliff Elie burgundy tuxedo to cross the graduating stage and deliver his speech to his peers.

“I felt bold and empowered while wearing the suit, and with my aspirations of becoming a lawyer, I’d be wearing more suits in the future,” Munroe said.

The recently opened Ecliff Elie store in Westmall not only offers retail services for items such as shirts, jackets, pants, ties, cufflinks, belts and shoes but also includes bespoke tailoring services for those who prefer a customised suit.

“Our fashion experts will be there as you walk in, to engage in fashion consultations, you can select your fabric and we can help you with your design and have it turned over in a record time. There is a gap there for bespoke suits and we are there to fill that gap and to give customers a new experience in sartorial excellence,” Elie said.

The brand has been represented in Guyana, Grenada, St Lucia, Antigua, St Kitts, Curacao, St Vincent and Jamaica, and also within the Caribbean community in the United States.

His advice to men on developing their fashion sense:

• Create a versatile, proactive wardrobe, not reactive

• Read your invitation and be familiar with the dress code

• If you are not sure, then just visit us at Ecliff Elie, and we will fill those gaps!

Shop their retail collection at the store locations: Rosalino Street Woodbrook, The Falls at West Mall, C3 San Fernando and Crown Point Tobago.
