Jordan Allister Woods said he has always been focused on health, discipline, creativity that engenders betterment, productive opportunities for young men, and being an exemplar.
“From very young, I always wanted to own my own business and work for myself,” he said.
“Particularly regarding health, I quickly realised that it doesn’t stop at the medical field, because while a doctor’s profession is viewed as prestigious and essential, no one wants their work and personal surroundings/environment unclean and unhygienic, as they know the health disadvantages attached.
“COVID-19 made the world sharply notice what essential work truly comprises, and an area is sanitary maintenance,” Woods asserted.
“Sanitary maintenance is a critical mandatory public service, yet it’s one of the most overlooked and under-rated essential professions in T&T, while in many developed countries, both job and staff are highly considered and respectfully remunerated,” Woods explained.
Woods, 26, successfully graduated from Cowen Hamilton Secondary School, is a Trinidad and Tobago Regiment soldier, and an entrepreneur for five-plus years now. He’s the founder and managing director of J’s Group of Companies (JGC), and an ardent football and cricket player.
He said that while many young people were complaining of boredom during the COVID-19 pandemic, he transformed his focus. He watched what he and his soldier colleagues faced while assisting with the removal of swollen piles of assorted disposal in every area of society, including during floods, and measured the urgency for clean-up against the shortage of skills and services.
Woods said that inspired JGC, which comprises sanitary services: CleanUpCrewTT, accessories: Jays Accessories and food: JAB Coconut Water.
“Desirous of becoming an entrepreneur way before the pandemic, I pursued it, despite being told, like other young people ‘get a job’ instead of create jobs, and at school for Career Day, no sanitary maintenance person ever attended.”
Quite recently, Woods rebranded JGC’s colour from blue to forest green, which depicts nature, stability, growth, and renewal. He deliberately crafted his trademark as Everything & Anything. “We’re confident of doing everything and fearless of doing anything for the betterment of all.”
Success Don’t Come Over is his brand message specifically geared towards young men, to not give up on greatness and trust the process.
Woods said the motto for CleanUpCrewTT is Your Rubbish Our Business, Jays Accessories: Everything Anything and JAB Fresh Coconut Water: Greatness in a Bottle.
Woods’ mission is to build a trustworthy team and provide effective products and services. His vision is to establish a company that executes exceptional service throughout the Caribbean, while his core values are loyalty, trust, integrity, personal courage and selfless service.
Woods added, “As a young, upcoming entrepreneur driving a still-somewhat young business, I continue to learn for personal growth and to steadily meet demands, with an unwavering focus on being an exemplar to the young male of colour. What makes JGC stand out above the rest is that timely service is provided, we are trusting, and exceptional products and services are guaranteed.
“I’ve always been a very ambitious person. I always see myself being on the big stage and I’m working towards it, determined to be successful in profound ways just like any of the legally-centred, wealthy entrepreneurs. But importantly, too, I want to be a conduit to helping raise the bar for black men.”
Woods said while he manages ten committed and dedicated employees, he wants to create even greater job opportunities for youth, expand the workforce and impact the economy. JGC now includes J’s Car Rental and Transportation Services.
“Taking sanitation/hygiene seriously, I strongly advise: Keep your area clean! Do not take for granted keeping your surroundings clean, because you can suffer from a series of long-term medical conditions that you do not want to be affected by.”
