Ladies were serenaded and celebrated all night long in Clifton Hill, Point Fortin, as ZZAGGAA Family hosted its 2026 Woman Is Boss event last Wednesday.
Themed around The Red Rose, many attendees followed suit by showing off all-red ensembles, while others opted for just a touch of the colour.
Whether it was an aim to seek warmth from the cool breeze from the nearby seaside, or just pure love, many couples—and friend groups alike—embraced each other and remained intertwined as the DJ played their favourite love songs.
When it came to live performances, the cast included a mix of women and ladies’ men.
Kicking things off was Tish Official, who performed some of her original songs along with covers of popular local tunes. Patrons moved closer to the stagefront to cheer her on and get the show started.
Trini Baby was up next, joined by two energetic backup dancers, as she performed her popular song Sweet Music—a collaboration with Aaron “Voice” St Louis. She also sang Wickedest Wine and Bad Girls Love Money.
The crowd began moving even more when reigning Calypso Monarch Terri Lyons commanded the stage. Some even began shouting song requests. Her setlist included her 2021 hit Fling Bam Bam, Obeah, as well as her Calypso Monarch-winning tune, Blessing.
Up next was the first ladies’ man of the night as Christo ran on stage singing his 2026 hit Doux Doux Darlin—and the audience made sure they sang it word-for-word. “You sound beautiful,” he told them as he rocked back and smiled in awe. He later joined the cheering fans off-stage to sing Red Gyal and Soca Feeling (Push Back). Old and young grooved along as he filled the courtyard with smooth vocals.
Yung Bredda kept the momentum going, delivering hit after hit—from The Greatest Bend Over and Inch by Inch, to Feel It and Trampoline. The ladies could not stop dancing throughout his performance. “Yuh have to come good when it comes to women, you know,” he teased. “You have to come with house and land and car and (put) at least over $250,000 in she account. You have to come good,” he added as the crowd laughed. And when there was a brief pause in the music, he assured, “We are only just getting started.”
Closing off the night was Barbadian dancehall artiste Mastaa T as he made his debut T&T live performance. His hit song Tea Tea recently became the most-listened-to song on Apple Music in T&T, and the crowd reminded him why. In fact, a fan even joined him on stage and sang along with him, with her vocals leaving the artiste’s team amazed. He performed other songs like Noo Cat Fishing, as well as his latest single, Crop Hot.
Among the attendees were Point Fortin Mayor Clyde James, as well as a number of aldermen from the Borough Corporation, including Bryana Fortune-John and Kobe Sandy.
But even after all artistes had graced the stage, many stayed back to continue enjoying the vibes with the DJs. The event only ended up officially ending sometime after 6 AM on Thursday.
Many patrons said they had a great time and are looking forward to next year’s staging of the event.
