Mikhail Salcedo says this year’s birthday, which coincides closely with Mother’s Day, will mark a milestone in his personal history.
“Beyond thanking my mother for bringing me into the world, raising me, and standing by me through good times and difficult ones, this will be the first time I am celebrating my birthday on Mother’s Day itself—although my actual birthday is a couple days after,” he said.
Salcedo noted that on Sunday, from 11 am to 3 pm, mothers—whether first-time or experienced, of any age, background, religion, ethnicity, body type, or socio-economic standing—are invited to gather at the intimate live entertainment venue Kafe Blue, 1D Wrightson Road, Port-of-Spain. Guests may attend alone or with companions for a celebration honouring mothers as “queens.”
“Let’s celebrate the queens with music that makes them reminisce, wine a bit, and fall in love all over again,” Salcedo said. “It’s also my birthday celebration, so expect some extra energy.”
He explained that the concept was designed to be personal and meaningful—an experience where music, atmosphere, and energy combine to create lasting memories.
Themed A Mother’s Day Brunch & Birthday Celebration, the event is described as a live music brunch experience blending jazz, R&B, soul, and calypso. It promises an intimate, feel-good setting with high-quality live performances, curated food offerings, and a relaxed, engaging atmosphere.
Guests will also enjoy door prizes, a photo session courtesy Elliot Francois Fotography, a spa experience provided by Jade The Esthetician, and gift care baskets.
The brunch menu will feature macaroni pie, coconut bake, pigeon peas in coconut milk, chicken sausage in tomato sauce, rosemary chicken, fried salmon, saltfish, green salad, dessert, and a special surprise.
Entertainment will be provided by jazz guitarist Dean Williams, vocalist Kadija Jeremiah, pannist and producer Kyle Noel, guitarist/vocalist Marcus Hypolite, and Northern Illinois University graduate pannist Jalen Charles.
Salcedo, a steelpan virtuoso and vocalist known for his work in Caribbean jazz, continues to carve out a distinct space in the local music landscape.
