Scotiabank T&T Chairman retires

Chair­man of the Board of Di­rec­tors, Sco­tia­bank T&T, Bren­dan King is set to re­tire.

In a state­ment the bank said King who has over 30 years of dis­tin­guished ser­vice as a se­nior ex­ec­u­tive of The Bank of No­va Sco­tia, Cana­da, re­tires ef­fec­tive Oc­to­ber 31.

The bank al­so not­ed King’s con­tri­bu­tions to the the or­gan­i­sa­tion's's in­ter­na­tion­al mar­kets over the years.

As Chair­man, the bank said King played a key role in the di­rec­tion and strat­e­gy of the bank lo­cal­ly, in­clud­ing sig­nif­i­cant progress in trans­form­ing the bank dig­i­tal­ly and oth­er mea­sures for long-term and sus­tain­able growth.

The bank al­so an­nounced changes to its board of di­rec­tors and Caribbean man­age­ment with the ap­point­ment of Anya Schnoor as the ex­ec­u­tive vice pres­i­dent of its Caribbean, Cen­tral Amer­i­ca and Uruguay (CCAU) re­gion.

It not­ed Schnoor has held sev­er­al se­nior roles in the bank's op­er­a­tions in Ja­maica and T&T in her 28-year ca­reer.

Sco­tia­bank group head, In­ter­na­tion­al Bank­ing and Dig­i­tal Trans­for­ma­tion, Igna­cio De­schamps said, "Anya brings a wealth of ex­pe­ri­ence and an in-depth knowl­edge of the re­gion and is unique­ly qual­i­fied to lead the re­gion as it nav­i­gates its re­cov­ery dur­ing this dif­fi­cult time."

He al­so not­ed the bank com­mit­ment to ad­vanc­ing fe­male lead­ers.

“Sco­tia­bank is al­so com­mit­ted to ad­vanc­ing fe­male lead­ers in the work­place which we see as a top pri­or­i­ty for the long-term suc­cess of the Bank,” De­schamps added.

The an­nounce­ment fol­lows ef­forts by Sco­tia­bank to repo­si­tion and strength­en its busi­ness in the re­gion, max­imis­ing share­hold­er re­turns and putting cus­tomers first.
