There were 17,317 visitors to Trinidad via cruise ships during the 2024-2025 cruise season.

This was confirmed by Tourism Trinidad following the conclusion of the 2024-2025 cruise season on April 11, 2024.

Tourism Trinidad said the inaugural visit of the Odyssey, a residential cruise ship operated by Villa Vie Residences, “highlighted Trinidad’s commitment to welcoming innovation and new trends within the cruise sector, such as the growing popularity of residential cruising. The Odyssey is an inclusive residency ship booked by families, professionals, retirees and more for up to three and a half years, allowing them the opportunity to tour the world with all the comforts of home onboard.”

Tourism Trinidad said there was a total of 17 cruise calls, eight of which were inaugural calls with two new cruise lines coming to Trinidad.

The release stated, “Trinidad played host to a wide range of vessels, from large ocean liners to smaller boutique ships, reinforcing the destination’s versatility and its ability to cater to a variety of travellers, whether seeking adventure, culture, or relaxation.

A key pillar in enhancing the cruise passenger experience this season was the continued success of Tourism Trinidad’s Visitor Ambassador Programme, the only initiative of its kind in the Caribbean. This dedicated team of trained tourism customer service ambassadors played an instrumental role in shaping first impressions, offering warm welcomes, personalised guidance, and expert recommendations on what to see, do, and experience while in Destination Trinidad.”

Acting manager of Tourism Trinidad’s Research, strategy and marketing division, Dahlia Zaida Mohammed said, “We at TTL are incredibly proud of the strides made in enhancing the visitor experience and elevating Trinidad’s standing as a premier cruise destination in the Caribbean. The arrival of the Odyssey is a fitting finale to a season that was defined by expansion and renewed partnerships.”

Tourism Trinidad said the 2024–2025 cruise season has seen growing momentum for cruise tourism in Trinidad, with encouraging signs of expansion across the sector. —Peter Christopher
