Hundreds turned out as the St Charles (Tunapuna) Girls’ Roman Catholic School held its walkathon last Saturday.
The theme was ‘Let peace begin with me’ and was a bold statement to influence students, their parents/guardians and the wider community to encourage peace in their surroundings, as crime and violence have become too ingrained in the community, which has been labelled a “hot spot” by the TTPS due to the gang activity taking place there.
The walk began from the school compound at 7 am and took the participants through the Tunapuna community before ending at the school, which is located along the Eastern Main Road.
After the event, students and their families had breakfast and participated in some fun activities.
