Two men, aged 24 and 28, were ar­rest­ed in con­nec­tion with the at­tempt­ed mur­der of a 39-year-old man in Princes Town, as po­lice seized two firearms, am­mu­ni­tion and quan­ti­ties of cannabis, co­caine and LSD dur­ing sep­a­rate an­ti-crime op­er­a­tions be­tween Au­gust 7 and 8.

Po­lice said around 4.30 pm on Fri­day, the vic­tim was near the San Fer­nan­do Taxi Stand along High Street, Na­pari­ma-Ma­yaro Road, Princes Town, when he was ap­proached by two men armed with cut­lass­es.

Po­lice said the men al­leged­ly struck him sev­er­al times about the body and on the left side of his head. The vic­tim es­caped and went to the Princes Town Po­lice Sta­tion be­fore be­ing tak­en to the Princes Town Dis­trict Health Fa­cil­i­ty. He was lat­er trans­ferred to San Fer­nan­do Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal.

Act­ing on in­for­ma­tion re­ceived dur­ing the in­ves­ti­ga­tion, of­fi­cers of the Princes Town Crim­i­nal In­ves­ti­ga­tions De­part­ment ar­rest­ed the two sus­pects.

Mean­while, dur­ing an in­tel­li­gence-led R.E.S.O.L.U.T.E. Shield op­er­a­tion in Bel­mont be­tween 8 pm on Au­gust 7 and 2 am on Au­gust 8, of­fi­cers searched sev­er­al hous­es and aban­doned struc­tures and seized 350 grammes of cannabis.

In Point Fortin, of­fi­cers search­ing a ve­hi­cle at Sun­set Beach, Fan­ny Vil­lage, found 11.8 grammes of co­caine and ar­rest­ed one per­son. A sub­se­quent search of a res­i­dence at Par­adise Set­tle­ment re­sult­ed in the seizure of three rounds of .40 cal­i­bre am­mu­ni­tion and the ar­rest of an­oth­er per­son.

In Arou­ca, of­fi­cers act­ing on in­for­ma­tion searched a bushy area at Back Street and found a re­volver and two rounds of .38 cal­i­bre am­mu­ni­tion con­cealed in a box in­side a black plas­tic bag.

At La Man­go, St Joseph, of­fi­cers found a home­made sawed-off shot­gun, two 12-gauge car­tridges, 600 grammes of cannabis and 10 grammes of LSD hid­den in an emp­ty lot.
