Is­hana Edgar, an 18-year-old sec­ond-year Busi­ness Man­age­ment stu­dent at the Uni­ver­si­ty of the South­ern Caribbean, walked away with the pres­ti­gious ti­tle of Miss Cen­tral Trinidad when the Cou­va Car­ni­val Com­mit­tee (CCC) staged its mar­quee event at the Cou­va Car­ni­val Cen­tre on Sat­ur­day.

Edgar, who hails from San Fer­nan­do, al­so cap­tured two of the in­di­vid­ual prizes on of­fer, Miss Pho­to­genic and Best Cos­tume. She won a cash prize of $8,000 and a tro­phy.

“I was as­ton­ished when I was an­nounced as the win­ner. I love to be on the stage and show­case my tal­ents. I in­tend to rep­re­sent the peo­ple of Cen­tral Trinidad to the best of my abil­i­ty,” Edgar, who rep­re­sent­ed Full Bar­rel Sports Bar, said af­ter­wards.

She said her in­ter­ests in­clude dance, mu­sic and mod­el­ling.

Run­ner-up was Damisha Dy­er (Miss Vir­go Con­sul­tants), with Sh­ernisha Fran­cis (Sinanan Dass & As­so­ciates plac­ing third.

Al­so win­ning in­di­vid­ual prizes were Clevette Mat­ter­son (Miss Ami­ty); Sh­ernisha Fran­cis (Best Pas­sion Plat­form) and Damisha Dy­er (Best Gown and Miss In­tel­li­gence).

CCC chair­man Ram­c­hand Ra­jbal Maraj hailed the pageant as a great suc­cess, com­mend­ing the show’s co­or­di­na­tor Mar­cia Mer­rick-Mo­hamed for a good job. The com­pe­ti­tion was staged as one of the CCC’s pre­mier 2026 Car­ni­val events.

For her part, Mer­rick-Mo­hamed said it had been a great ho­n­our and a hum­bling ex­pe­ri­ence to be asked once again to pro­duce the pageant.

“I am grate­ful to the spon­sors who an­swered my calls for every­thing from spon­sor­ing the girls to the out­stand­ing stage pro­duc­tion,” she added.
