The ANSA McAL Group hosted its Growing with Guyana networking cocktail and business showcase at the Marriott in Georgetown, bringing together the President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali, alongside senior government officials, business leaders, partners and colleagues from T&T and Guyana for an evening of strategic dialogue and collaboration.
ANSA McAL’s group CEO, Anthony Sabga III, emphasised the conglomerate’s enduring presence in Guyana for more than 30 years, noting that the group’s Trinidadian roots and Caribbean identity defined its approach to doing business across the region.
“Growing with Guyana is not about expansion for expansion’s sake. It is about partnership, shared progress and long-term commitment to the people and communities we serve across the Caribbean,” he stated.
The event spotlighted ANSA McAL’s strategic narrative of Growing with Guyana, positioning the group as a trusted partner in Guyana’s Vision 2040.
Key highlights included:
• The Anthony N Sabga Award— Frances Bain-Cumberbatch, group chief legal and external affairs officer and corporate secretary, underscored the awards as the defining expression of ANSA McAL’s pan-Caribbean commitment to social development.
Conceived in T&T and fully funded by the ANSA McAL Foundation, the Awards have since 2005 recognised 71 outstanding Caribbean professionals, investing TT$34 million to support their work. Guyana has produced 16 laureates, and next month Georgetown will host the 2026 Awards ceremony, honouring one of Guyana’s own;
• Community Impact— Bain-Cumberbatch highlighted initiatives from 2025 including sponsorship of the Parkside Steel Orchestra and Pan on the Wall cultural showcase, road safety partnerships along the Essequibo Coast, and support for the Empower Guyana: Center for Equity and Innovation.
• National Call for Social Investment Proposals— Melanie Richards, head of sustainability and social investment, announced the launch of the ANSA McAL Foundation’s national Call for Social Investment Proposals in Guyana.
Registered civil society organisations are invited to submit programmes focused on education (STEM, TVET, entrepreneurship) and community-based youth development, with ANSA McAL investing GYD $20 million (US $100,000) across two selected partners, supported by a one-day Capacity Building Workshop.
The foundation’s mandate spans the full Caribbean, with T&T at its centre, and the structured social investment model being piloted in Guyana reflects the Group’s broader regional ambition.
• Subsidiary Showcase—Guests explored mini expo-style booths hosted by ANSA McAL’s subsidiaries; ANSA McAL Distribution Inc, ANSA Motors Guyana, ANSA Building Solutions Guyana, Guyana Breweries, and ANSA McAL Real Estate, gaining firsthand insight into the impact of each business on Guyana’s economy and communities.
Guests were also invited to view a short film showcasing ANSA McAL’s presence in Guyana and its commitment to building enduring partnerships.
“Guyana is defined not only by economic momentum, but by resilience, talent, and ambition,” the Group CEO, Anthony Sabga III noted.
“That is why our investments go beyond infrastructure and operations. We invest in people. We invest in leadership. And we invest in relationships that stand the test of time.”
The Growing with Guyana event reaffirmed ANSA McAL’s role as a respected Caribbean group delivering mutual, demonstrable benefits to communities, government, and business across the region, the group said in a news release.
