T&T’s publicly listed, diversified group, ANSA McAL, announced yesterday that it had entered into an agreement to sell its majority shareholding in Brydens Retail Inc. and Brydens Xpress (Office Supplies) Inc. to Greenbow Inc, a Barbadian company led by Graham Greenidge and Sean Boland, two long-standing executives of the business.
The transaction is the second divestment announced by the group this month. On November 3, ANSA McAL disclosed that it had entered into an agreement to sell Standard Distributors together with its wholly owned subsidiary, Standard Distribution and Sales Barbados, to Term Finance (Trinidad & Tobago). This transaction reflects ANSA McAL’s commitment to strategic portfolio optimization while complementing Term Finance’s acquisitive growth agenda across the region.announcement
In its news release yesterday, ANSA McAL said the change in ownership forms part of ANSA McAL’s broader 2X strategy, which focuses on portfolio optimisation and disciplined investment in growth areas across the group.
The group’s chief strategy officer Andre Jeffers, said, “This divestment aligns with our 2X strategy and our sharpened focus on portfolio optimisation. Brydens Retail and Brydens Xpress have played an important role within the ANSA McAL Group, and we are proud of their legacy and contribution to the Barbados market. The sale to the current management team ensures strong local continuity, with leadership that deeply understands the business and its customers.”
The T&T company said the transaction represents a seamless transition in ownership, ensuring full continuity of leadership, operations, and service. Long-standing shareholder Harry Lashley will remain invested in the business, providing additional continuity and local insight as the companies move into this next chapter. Together, the companies employ a talented team and serve thousands of retail and commercial customers across Barbados through their established network of outlets and distribution channels.
ANSA McAL said Brydens Retail, operating as Brydens Stationery, is a household name, offering a wide range of stationery, books, and school supplies; and general consumer goods through its well-known retail locations through its stores located in Lower Estate, Norman Centre and Sky Mall.
Brydens Xpress is the leading wholesale and distribution service provider of products and small appliances, stationery, office supplies, office equipment and office furniture to schools, corporations, and government institutions.
Graham Greenidge, director of Greenbow Inc and current general manager of the companies, said: “This is an exciting milestone for our team and for Barbados. Having been part of the Brydens journey for many years, we are proud to continue building on the solid foundation laid under ANSA McAL. Our focus remains on our customers, our employees, and our commitment to quality service and trusted relationships.”
Harry Lashley, continuing shareholder and partner in the business, added: “It has been a pleasure partnering with ANSA McAL over the years. I look forward to this new chapter with Greenbow, working alongside a team that knows the business inside and out. This transition brings renewed energy and continued commitment to serving our customers and community.”
The transaction is expected to close on or about November 30, 2025.
