Cra­paud Foot Restau­rant has per­ma­nent­ly closed its doors, bring­ing an end to a ven­ture that sought to of­fer din­ers more than a tra­di­tion­al restau­rant ex­pe­ri­ence.

The es­tab­lish­ment an­nounced the clo­sure in an In­sta­gram post on Tues­day evening, thank­ing cus­tomers, friends, fam­i­ly and oth­ers who sup­port­ed the busi­ness since it opened in March 2025.

Sources told Guardian Me­dia that the de­ci­sion came amid the eco­nom­ic chal­lenges fac­ing the busi­ness en­vi­ron­ment.

When con­tact­ed by Guardian Me­dia, an of­fi­cial at the restau­rant de­clined to com­ment at this time, say­ing the busi­ness want­ed to com­plete the wind­ing-up process be­fore speak­ing pub­licly about the clo­sure.

Cra­paud Foot was launched as a din­ing and en­ter­tain­ment space on Mu­cu­rapo Road in St James, but its own­ers soon sought to broad­en the con­cept.

In ad­di­tion to its restau­rant of­fer­ing, the busi­ness in­tro­duced Moko Beach, a beach-in­spired fea­ture de­signed to give pa­trons a sea­side at­mos­phere with­out leav­ing the city.

Di­rec­tor Ja­son Mar­cus pre­vi­ous­ly said the con­cept had un­der­gone sev­er­al changes be­fore reach­ing its fi­nal form. What be­gan as an idea for a cof­fee shop even­tu­al­ly de­vel­oped in­to a full restau­rant op­er­a­tion, with the beach-themed com­po­nent lat­er added to the mix.

Mar­cus said the de­vel­op­ment re­quired the team to nav­i­gate lo­gis­ti­cal and con­struc­tion chal­lenges as it worked to turn the orig­i­nal con­cept in­to a phys­i­cal space.

The busi­ness was es­tab­lished by a six-mem­ber team and sought to cre­ate a venue where food, mu­sic and leisure could come to­geth­er un­der one roof.

In its farewell mes­sage, the restau­rant re­flect­ed on the ex­pe­ri­ences shared with pa­trons dur­ing its rel­a­tive­ly short run.

It thanked its cus­tomers and sup­port­ers for their loy­al­ty, say­ing their en­cour­age­ment had meant more than could be ex­pressed in words.

The restau­rant al­so ac­knowl­edged the mem­o­ries cre­at­ed at the venue, from or­di­nary vis­its to cel­e­bra­tions and oth­er oc­ca­sions.

For the busi­ness, the clo­sure marks the end of its op­er­a­tion af­ter about 18 months, as it moves to wind up its af­fairs.

The own­ers end­ed their mes­sage by ac­knowl­edg­ing that while the restau­rant had reached the end of its cur­rent chap­ter, the ex­pe­ri­ences cre­at­ed dur­ing its time in op­er­a­tion would re­main with those who had passed through its doors.
