Ex­cel­lent’s Up­town Mall in Port-of-Spain has been list­ed for sale.

The shop­ping cen­tre at the cor­ner of Fred­er­ick and Park Streets, known as Ex­cel­lent Up­town Mall, was list­ed as a com­mer­cial prop­er­ty for sale on sev­er­al re­al es­tate sites and so­cial me­dia over the East­er week­end.

How­ev­er, when con­tact­ed on Tues­day, chief ex­ec­u­tive of­fi­cer of Ex­cel­lent Stores, Alex Siu Chong, con­firmed the prop­er­ty has been up for sale for over four years.

The ask­ing price for the four-storey mall is list­ed as US$2,965,000 or TT$19.9 mil­lion.

The prop­er­ty cur­rent­ly has sev­er­al ac­tive ten­ants, in­clud­ing food fran­chis­es such as KFC, Lin­da’s Bak­ery, Smokey Joe’s and Grill King.

While the mall still bears the Ex­cel­lent name, the brand has large­ly ceased phys­i­cal op­er­a­tions in Port- of-Spain.

In 2024, the com­pa­ny closed Ex­cel­lent Dis­count Cen­tre at an­oth­er Port-of-Spain mall, which holds the brand’s name, Ex­cel­lent City Cen­tre, on the cor­ner of Fred­er­ick Street and In­de­pen­dence Square. Since 2020, the com­pa­ny has start­ed mov­ing away from phys­i­cal lo­ca­tions and in­stead opt­ed to fo­cus on on­line sales.

The com­pa­ny cur­rent­ly has three phys­i­cal lo­ca­tions at Movi­eTowne Port-of-Spain, Brent­wood, Ch­agua­nas, and C3 Shop­ping Cen­tre, San Fer­nan­do.
