Guardian Me­dia has con­firmed that the man­ag­ing di­rec­tor of the Hous­ing De­vel­op­ment Cor­po­ra­tion (HDC), Jay­selle Mc­Far­lane, has ten­dered her res­ig­na­tion af­ter al­most five years of ser­vice.

In a let­ter dat­ed Jan­u­ary 6, ad­dressed to HDC chair­man Fer­oze Khan, Mc­Far­lane for­mal­ly no­ti­fied the board that her de­par­ture will take ef­fect this Fri­day.

In her cor­re­spon­dence, Mc­Far­lane wrote: “Af­ter care­ful con­sid­er­a­tion, I am sub­mit­ting my res­ig­na­tion from my po­si­tion as man­ag­ing di­rec­tor with the T&T Hous­ing De­vel­op­ment Cor­po­ra­tion (HDC), ef­fec­tive Fri­day, 9th Jan­u­ary 2026.”

She de­scribed her tenure as a priv­i­lege, high­light­ing con­tri­bu­tions to ex­pand­ing pay­ment op­tions for home­own­ers, au­tomat­ing in­ter­nal process­es and ad­vanc­ing strate­gic ini­tia­tives aligned with the cor­po­ra­tion’s mis­sion.

Speak­ing with Guardian Me­dia, she said her res­ig­na­tion was due to per­son­al rea­sons.

Mc­Far­lane as­sured the HDC board of her com­mit­ment to a smooth tran­si­tion, pledg­ing to fa­cil­i­tate the han­dover of re­spon­si­bil­i­ties to her suc­ces­sor in or­der to min­imise dis­rup­tion.

She ex­pressed grat­i­tude to the HDC’s lead­er­ship team, staff and col­leagues for their sup­port and col­lab­o­ra­tion, not­ing that she leaves with “fond mem­o­ries and deep ap­pre­ci­a­tion for the op­por­tu­ni­ties I have had to serve.”

Her res­ig­na­tion marks the end of a four-year-and eight-month pe­ri­od in which the HDC pur­sued mod­erni­sa­tion of its sys­tems and sought to im­prove ser­vice de­liv­ery to cit­i­zens.

Her lead­er­ship co­in­cid­ed with ef­forts to strength­en fi­nan­cial man­age­ment and ex­pand ac­cess to hous­ing so­lu­tions, ar­eas that re­main cen­tral to the HDC’s man­date.

Her de­par­ture comes at a crit­i­cal junc­ture for the state agency, which con­tin­ues to face high de­mand for af­ford­able hous­ing and pres­sure to de­liv­er on long-stand­ing com­mit­ments.

Sources with­in the HDC told Guardian Me­dia that deputy man­ag­ing di­rec­tor, Wazeer Aleem, would hold the po­si­tion un­til a suit­able can­di­date is found.

Aleem is the for­mer pro­cure­ment man­ag­er and chief op­er­a­tions of­fi­cer at Ed­u­ca­tion Fa­cil­i­ties Com­pa­ny Ltd (EF­CL).
