Minister in the Energy Minister Ernesto Kesar met with officials from El Dorado Offshore and Ramps Logistics in Paramaribo, Suriname during Caribbean Energy Week 2026.
The discussion was hosted by RAMPS Logistics CEO Shaun Rampersad at the company's Suriname office and featured Sarona Samaroo, VP El Dorado Offshore, Mike Resomardono, Ramps Logistics Suriname country manager and members of the companies’ Suriname team.
Minister Kesar was accompanied by a senior engineer from the Ministry. The meeting also featured other Trinidad and Tobago service providers and professionals active in Suriname’s oil and gas sector, including Weatherford.
According to release from Ramps on Tuesday, the meeting reflected continued support for the growth and development of Suriname’s energy industry and reinforced the value of practical engagement, regional presence, and direct dialogue among stakeholders operating in the sector.
It was explained that the discussions were also aligned with the wider national direction being advanced under Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, as Trinidad and Tobago continues to strengthen its position as a serious, outward-facing player in the regional energy landscape.
Sarona Samaroo, vice president of El Dorado Offshore, said “The Caribbean is at an important stage of development, and progress will depend on how deliberately we align experience, capability, and opportunity to support sustainable growth across the region.”
Held during one of the region’s most important energy gatherings, the meeting reinforced a clear point: regional progress depends not only on opportunity, but on sustained engagement, credible partnerships, and the ability to contribute in practical ways.
Caribbean Energy Week which began on Monday, March 30, is set to conclude today April 1.
