LJ Williams will be un­der new lead­er­ship in the new year.

In a no­tice post­ed to the Trinidad and To­ba­go Stock Ex­change yes­ter­day, the com­pa­ny con­firmed that Dr Kr­ish­na Ba­hadoors­ingh would step down as chair­man at the end of the year.

The post stat­ed that Ba­hadoors­ingh would re­sign as a di­rec­tor and chair­man of the com­pa­ny ef­fec­tive De­cem­ber 31, 2023, and he would be re­placed by Law­ford Dupres.

Dupres has been a di­rec­tor at the com­pa­ny since 2002.

The post­ing con­firmed that he will be ap­point­ed as com­pa­ny chair­man from Jan­u­ary 1, 2024.

Dr Ba­hadoors­ingh joined the board of LJ Williams in 1996 and was ap­point­ed chair­man in 2001, af­ter the pass­ing of for­mer chair­man Ronald Jay Williams.

The com­pa­ny said Ba­hadoors­ingh had been a steady hand and good coun­sel over the years.

The post­ing stat­ed, “He has brought a dif­fer­ent per­spec­tive to our dis­tri­b­u­tion busi­ness and shep­herd­ed our en­try in­to the re­tail busi­ness with The Home Store.”

The Home Store had be­come a key com­po­nent in the com­pa­ny in re­cent years and af­ter a dif­fi­cult pe­ri­od dur­ing the COVID-19 pan­dem­ic, pushed through with ex­pan­sion plans.

In the past two years, the Home Store opened branch­es in West Mall, West­moor­ings; East Gates Mall in Trinci­ty and the Ama­zo­nia Mall in Guyana, its first in­ter­na­tion­al branch.
