Republic Financial Holdings Limited (RFHL) announced yesterday that president of the National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago and recently elevated senior counsel Jason Mootoo have joined the group’s board.
The company said both new directors were elected by shareholders at the RFHL annual meeting hosted on December 11, 2023 at the Hyatt Regency Trinidad.
RFHL said that on assuming the position of NGC president in 2016, Loquan has championed the transformation of the state enterprise by expanding its business portfolio across the value chain, streamlining internal processes through technology, and incorporating a new strategic focus on the energy transition and sustainability.
The bank said Mootoo’s primary areas of practice include, inter alia, commercial disputes and arbitration, contractual claims, company law disputes, banking and finance, receiverships and liquidation and trusts. During his career, Mootoo has acted for and advised a variety of organisations including multinationals, financial institutions, and publicly listed companies.
Commenting on the appointments of Loquan and Mootoo, RFHL chairman Pereira remarked: “We’re honoured to have Mark and Jason join our Board. Their unique skills and proven track records align perfectly with our Group’s strategic vision and their diverse perspectives will undoubtedly strengthen RFHL’s decision-making processes and governance systems.”
In a news release, RFHL, which is the parent company of Republic Bank Ltd, indicated that effective yesterday, Peter Inglefield retired from the financial holding company’s board.
In reference to Inglefield’s impact, Pereira stated: “On behalf of the board and the entire Group, I extend our deepest gratitude to Peter for his dutiful service and invaluable contribution. His wisdom and insight have been instrumental to our success and his presence will be sincerely missed. We wish him all the best on his well-deserved retirement.”
