Six directors on the board of Point Lisas Industrial Port Development Corporation Limited, including its former chairman, offered resignations at the close of the 58th Annual General Meeting of the corporation held last Thursday.
The directors are Annette Wattie, Cindy Manson, Richardo Garcia, Ricardo Lewis, St Clair O’Neil and Stephen Harris.
However, 13 directors were subsequently appointed as directors of the corporation with effect from July 18, 2025.
There are Ramnarine Persad, Muichan Lewis, Sieunarine Babwah, Rondell Parsotan, Jonathan Poliah, Sadia Mohammed, Marsha Padia, Vanessa Kussie, Ramchand Maraj, Karunan Bisramsingh, Jeffery Sookram, Trevor Joseph and Indy Samaroo.
Plipdeco has been embroiled in controversy over its leadership over the last year.
Former president Earnest Ashley Taylor was placed on administrative leave in July 2024, following which he subsequently retired in December of that year.
Vice-president of technical services Dr Averne Pantin was appointed as acting president, but he resigned effective February 7, 2025.
On October 11, 2024, Plipdeco announced that Dr Daniel Dookie, who was its chairman, had “ceased to hold a position on the board” at the 57th annual meeting of the company on October 8, 2024.
Wattie was then appointed as chair of the company, and Stephen Harris was appointed as a director on the board.
Over the course of the year, there were several directors who either resigned or were placed on leave.
