Randy Ramadhar Singh is the new chairman of the National Gas Company.
NGC has been without a chairman for almost three weeks as the new government was seeking to find a suitable replacement.
The last chairman was Dr Joseph Ishamel Khan.
Guardian Media obtained Ramadhar Singh’s resume which states he has a PhD in Advanced Energy System Analysis on the Energy PLAN model from Aalborg University in Denmark.
From 2012-2016, Ramadhar Singh was an advisor on renewable energy to the Energy Ministry.
He also collaborated with other Government ministries and Agencies to expedite projects in renewable energy. And collaboration with academia to review research in the energy sector and renewable energy projects.
He has also been a consultant for various green hydrogen projects.
The other directors of the NGC board are expected to be announced soon.
The National Gas Company and the wider NGC Group recorded an after-tax profit of $540 million for the nine months ended 30 September 2024.
The company stated that this represented a significant improvement of $1.8 billion from the reported loss of $1.3 billion for the year ended December 31, 2023, which was impacted by $1.8 billion in impairment charges.
In 2024, NGC acquired a 20 per cent participating interest in the cross-border Cocuina gas field, as well as carried a 20 per cent participating interest as a state entity in each of the Charuma, Cipero, and Rio Claro onshore blocks.
Also, the final investment decision was taken on the Beachfield Manatee Upgrade onshore Project, which is required to process Shell’s Manatee gas production to both the domestic and LNG markets.
