Robert Soverall will retire as managing director of Republic Financial Services Life Insurance Company Ltd.
In a notice to the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange, Republic Financial Holdings Ltd (RFHL) reported that his retirement will take effect on September 30, 2026.
RFHL established Republic Life Insurance Company (RLIC) in 2021, with it officially starting its operations in January 2022.
The insurance company initially offered creditor’s life insurance on retail loans and mortgages. In February 2022, Credit Card Balance Cover was launched. In April 2022, the Single Premium Immediate Annuity (SPIA) was launched to the public.
In 2025, RLIC introduced a “Endowment Savings Plan” and ‘Serene Cover,’ all of which were overseen by Soverall.
The notice confirmed that Karen Tom Yew-Jardine has been appointed to succeed Soverall as managing director of Republic Life Insurance from October 1, 2026.
Janelle Bernard has been appointed chief risk officer of RFHL, and will succeed Tom Yew-Jardine in that role on October 1, 2026.
Republic Bank Ltd also advised of the following material changes to its general managers effective October 1, 2026, subject to regulatory approval:
* The appointment of Karen Tom Yew-Jardine as general manager, Creditor Protection of Republic Bank Limited;
* Janelle Bernard's appointment as general manager, Group Enterprise Risk to replace Karen Tom Yew-Jardine in that role.
