Young meets Woodside, Shell CEOs in Houston

Min­is­ter of En­er­gy and En­er­gy In­dus­tries Stu­art Young yes­ter­day met with the chief ex­ec­u­tive of­fi­cer of Wood­side En­er­gy Meg O’Neill to dis­cuss the glob­al en­er­gy com­pa­ny’s “ex­cit­ing and promis­ing deep wa­ter project” in T&T.

The meet­ing was held at Wood­side’s of­fice in Hous­ton.

“We dis­cussed Wood­side En­er­gy’s op­er­a­tions in T&T, their con­tin­ued pro­duc­tion of oil and gas, as well as, Ca­lyp­so, the ex­cit­ing and promis­ing deep wa­ter project that they are de­vel­op­ing. We are cur­rent­ly work­ing to­geth­er in com­mer­cial ne­go­ti­a­tions to en­sure the fu­ture pro­duc­tion of hy­dro­car­bon re­sources from the deep wa­ter and I look for­ward to an­nounce­ments in the fu­ture,” Young stat­ed in a post to his Face­book page.

Al­so at the meet­ing were Wood­side’s ex­ec­u­tive vice pres­i­dent of in­ter­na­tion­al op­er­a­tions Shi­va McMa­hon, pres­i­dent and coun­try man­ag­er Juan Vazquez, and cor­po­rate af­fairs man­ag­er at Wood­side En­er­gy T&T Dr Car­la Noel Mendez.

Act­ing per­ma­nent sec­re­tary of the En­er­gy Min­istry San­dra Fras­er and pres­i­dent of the Na­tion­al Gas Com­pa­ny Mark Lo­quan al­so par­tic­i­pat­ed in the meet­ing.

“This week spent in Hous­ton saw us progress T&T ini­tia­tives with sig­nif­i­cant high-lev­el glob­al en­er­gy sec­tor stake­hold­ers, in­clud­ing ma­jor in­ter­na­tion­al oil com­pa­nies, the US Gov­ern­ment, at­tor­neys, me­dia and oth­ers,” Young stat­ed.

Young was in Hous­ton as part of the en­er­gy con­fer­ence CERA Week.

On Thurs­day Young had meet­ings with Shell ex­ec­u­tives in­clud­ing ex­ec­u­tive vice pres­i­dent for LNG Cedric Cre­mers and se­nior vice pres­i­dent and coun­try chair for Shell T&T Eu­gene Okpere.

“I was al­so able to catch up with Wael Sawan, chief ex­ec­u­tive of­fi­cer of Shell Glob­al. We dis­cussed the growth and strength­en­ing of the re­la­tion­ship be­tween T&T and Shell and the many achieve­ments that we have been able to ac­com­plish since Shell re-en­tered T&T in 2016,” Young post­ed.

“I al­so had a pro­duc­tive meet­ing with An­na Sh­pits­berg, deputy as­sis­tant sec­re­tary, Bu­reau of En­er­gy Re­sources, Unit­ed States De­part­ment of State. We dis­cussed en­er­gy se­cu­ri­ty and the po­ten­tial of sus­tain­able en­er­gy projects in T&T and the Cari­com,” he post­ed.
