Ten minors in Tobago are facing charges of assault by beating following two separate incidents of school-related violence, according to a police release.
In the first case, five students were charged in connection with an assault that occurred on May 20.
The release said the incident began when a student who was seated in a classroom, was attacked and struck several times on the head by another student.
Later that day, when the victim’s father and sister arrived to collect him, they were also reportedly assaulted by a group of four students, all between 13 and 17 years old.
The victims subsequently made a report at the Scarborough Police Station, prompting an investigation led by PC Edwards.
Following inquiries, five students were formally charged on November 3, 2025.
According to the release, this incident came in addition to another case in which five students were charged in connection with an ambush attack on another student at Shaw Park Grounds.
The T&T Police Service reiterated in the release its commitment to a zero-tolerance approach to school violence and its determination to ensure that schools across Tobago remain safe environments for learning and personal development.
