There are now 1,183 COVID-19 cases to have emerged among teachers and students within schools since the return to physical classes on April 19.
Providing an update on last week's figures, Minister of Health, Terrence Deyalsingh indicated that between May 16 and 22 there were 233 cases recorded from 104 schools.
On Monday, the Division of Education, Research and Technology (DERT) confirmed that 82 teachers and students tested positive on the island to date with six DERT staffers alongside them.
The following is a weekly breakdown of the cases as provided by the Ministry of Education through the Ministry of Health:
Week 1 (April 19 to April 24)- 28 cases from 16 schools
Week 2 (April 25 to May 1)- 288 cases from 243 schools
Week 3 (May 2 to May 8)- 306 cases from 144 schools
Week 4 (May 9 to May 15)- 328 cases from 153 schools
Week 5 (May 16 to May 22)- 104 cases from 116 schools
