There are now 1,183 COVID-19 cas­es to have emerged among teach­ers and stu­dents with­in schools since the re­turn to phys­i­cal class­es on April 19.

Pro­vid­ing an up­date on last week's fig­ures, Min­is­ter of Health, Ter­rence Deyals­ingh in­di­cat­ed that be­tween May 16 and 22 there were 233 cas­es record­ed from 104 schools.

On Mon­day, the Di­vi­sion of Ed­u­ca­tion, Re­search and Tech­nol­o­gy (DERT) con­firmed that 82 teach­ers and stu­dents test­ed pos­i­tive on the is­land to date with six DERT staffers along­side them.

The fol­low­ing is a week­ly break­down of the cas­es as pro­vid­ed by the Min­istry of Ed­u­ca­tion through the Min­istry of Health:

Week 1 (April 19 to April 24)- 28 cas­es from 16 schools

Week 2 (April 25 to May 1)- 288 cas­es from 243 schools

Week 3 (May 2 to May 8)- 306 cas­es from 144 schools

Week 4 (May 9 to May 15)- 328 cas­es from 153 schools

Week 5 (May 16 to May 22)- 104 cas­es from 116 schools
