A 13-year-old boy was shot and in­jured in Mor­vant on Mon­day.
Po­lice said at about 5 pm the boy was play­ing in a neigh­bour’s yard at Sawmill Av­enue when he heard a gun­shot. He then felt a burn­ing sen­sa­tion in the leg and re­alised that he was shot.

As the boy cried out for help a masked man be­lieved to be the gun­man was seen run­ning from an aban­doned build­ing in the area by res­i­dents. The boy was tak­en to the Er­ic Williams Med­ical Sci­ences Com­plex in Mt Hope where he was treat­ed and ward­ed.
PC Hyde is con­tin­u­ing in­quiries.

In an un­re­lat­ed in­ci­dent, a 35-year-old man was shot at while dri­ving his ve­hi­cle along Sankar Street in Tu­na­puna. The vic­tim told po­lice that at about 9.45 am on Mon­day he was dri­ving his ve­hi­cle when an­oth­er car ap­proached him and while over­tak­ing him its oc­cu­pants opened fire on him and then sped off.

The vic­tim stopped his ve­hi­cle and ex­it­ed and saw that there were bul­let holes in the front door and front wind­screen. The po­lice up­on re­ceiv­ing a re­port went to the scene and car­ried out an in­ves­ti­ga­tion dur­ing which they re­cov­ered five spent shells.

Po­lice said three of the shells were iden­ti­fied as is­sued from the T&T Po­lice Ser­vice while the oth­er two were is­sued by the T&T Reg­i­ment.
