An early morning high-speed chase in the Western Division resulted in the arrest of two suspects and the seizure of a quantity of marijuana worth an estimated $1.3 million on Friday.

Officers of the Division along with the Coastal and Riverine and Air Support Units were on patrol around 1:10 am in the Chaguaramas district, when they observed a white pirogue docked close to the shoreline.

The officers also observed a white X-Trail motor vehicle with two male occupants parked a short distance away.

On seeing the officers, the men drove off and a chase ensued which ended with the vehicle being intercepted along Abbe Poujade Road.

A search of the vehicle resulted in two crocus bags containing a 48.94 kilogrammes of marijuana being found and seized.

The drug has an estimated street value of $1.3 million.

The two suspects, ages 41 and 30, both of St. Augustine, were arrested in connection with the find.
