Some 14 immigrants were taken into police custody on Thursday by officers of the South-Western Division during an anti-crime exercise conducted in Erin.
According to police reports, the 14 immigrants had entered the country illegally.
The TTPS exercise took place between 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm on Wednesday (May 22, 2025).
Acting on, officers of the South Western Divisional Task Force received information that led them to the coastline near the Erin Fishing Depot, where several persons believed to be Venezuelan nationals had been observed.
Subsequent enquiries revealed that the individuals had entered the country illegally.
A total of sixteen persons—eleven males and five females, including two infants, a teenager, and adults ranging in age from 18 to 47 years—were detained and taken to the Erin Police Station.
The Immigration Division was notified of their detention.
The exercise was coordinated by Senior Superintendent Thompson, Assistant Superintendents Forbes, Corrie, and Sylvan, and Inspectors Sirju and Prescott. It was supervised by Corporal Patrice.
