BAL­DATH BHO­RAM, 59, was ar­rest­ed and charged for hav­ing a frozen ar­madil­lo at his home. While a 22-year-old man of Ca­roni Sa­van­nah Road, Ch­agua­nas was al­so ar­rest­ed for pos­ses­sion of dan­ger­ous drugs. The fol­low­ing is a press re­lease from the TTPS:

Po­lice of­fi­cers along with rep­re­sen­ta­tives of the Forestry Di­vi­sion of the Min­istry of Agri­cul­ture, Land and Fish­eries, con­duct­ed a joint ex­er­cise in the Cen­tral Di­vi­sion on Sat­ur­day 21st Au­gust, 2021. It re­sult­ed in the ar­rest of two men and the seizure of a frozen ar­madil­lo and 18 mar­i­jua­na trees, in two sep­a­rate in­ci­dents.

Based on in­for­ma­tion re­ceived, the of­fi­cers ex­e­cut­ed a search war­rant for arms and am­mu­ni­tion at a res­i­dence on Todd’s Sta­tion Road. Noth­ing men­tioned in the war­rant was found. How­ev­er, a frozen ar­madil­lo was seized from the home.

BAL­DATH BHO­RAM, 59, was ar­rest­ed in con­nec­tion with the find. Game War­den Gilchrist-Lopez con­tin­ued en­quiries which led to Bho­ram be­ing for­mal­ly charged. He was grant­ed bail at the Ch­agua­nas Po­lice Sta­tion and is sched­uled to ap­pear in court on Au­gust 30th, 2021.

In the sec­ond in­ci­dent, of­fi­cers ex­e­cut­ed a search war­rant for dan­ger­ous drugs at a house on Ca­roni Sa­van­nah Road, Ch­agua­nas. They found 18 ful­ly grown mar­i­jua­na trees with an es­ti­mat­ed street val­ue of $90,000. A 22-year-old man was ar­rest­ed and PC An­dre is con­tin­u­ing en­quiries.

The ex­er­cise, which was con­duct­ed dur­ing the hours of 1 pm and 9pm, was co­or­di­nat­ed by Snr Supt Curt Si­mon, ASP Dipc­hand, and In­sp Julien. It was su­per­vised by Ag Sgt An­drews and Ag Cpl Hamil­ton and in­clud­ed mem­bers of the Cen­tral Di­vi­sion Task Force (CDTF) Area North, PCs Charles and Woodruff of the Ca­nine Unit along with ca­nines Ar­ci and Atom. It was con­duct­ed joint­ly with Game War­den Ram­lo­gan and of­fi­cers of the Forestry Di­vi­sion, State Lands, and Prae­di­al Lar­ce­ny.
