Two men who allegedly physically and sexually assaulted their wives were granted bail in the sums of $10,000 and $100,000, during separate court appearances earlier this week.
The first man, a 46-year-old Ste Madeleine resident, appeared before Senior Magistrate Armina Deonarinesingh in the San Fernando Charge Case Court. He was charged with assault by beating and indecent assault.
The charges stemmed from an alleged incident on June 2 at the Ste Madeleine home he shared with the victim. The couple had recently separated but they both live at the same address.
The woman made a report to the Southern Gender Based Violence Unit following inquires spearheaded by ASP Bridglal and supervised by Sgt Banwarie, WPC Ramsawak laid the charges.
The accused was granted $10,000 bail and ordered to move out of the home.
In the second case, a 42-year-old Williamsville resident also appeared before Senior Magistrate Deonarinesingh, charged with assaulting by beating and rape.
The couple share a common-law relationship. It is alleged that the incidents allegedly occurred on May 30 and 31, at the couple’s home.
The charge was laid by PC Crawford of the Southern Gender Based Violence Unit following inquiries spearheaded by ASP Bridglal and supervised by Sgt Banwarie.
The accused was granted $100,000 bail, ordered to vacate the home and stay 400 feet away from his wife.
Both court matters were adjourned to June 30, 2022.
