Of­fi­cers at­tached to the Port of Spain Di­vi­sion have ar­rest­ed three sus­pects and seized a quan­ti­ty of mar­i­jua­na dur­ing an­ti-crime ex­er­cis­es on Wednes­day.

In a me­dia re­lease, the TTPS said around 3:30 am yes­ter­day, in­for­ma­tion re­ceived led a par­ty of of­fi­cers of the Port of Spain In­ves­ti­ga­tion Op­er­a­tions Unit and Gang In­tel­li­gence Unit to the en­trance of the Queen’s Park Sa­van­nah where they ar­rest­ed a sus­pect be­lieved to be in­volved in sev­er­al rob­beries and lar­ce­ny.

The TTPS added that dur­ing street check ex­er­cis­es in Port of Spain, of­fi­cers stopped and searched an or­ange Kia Rio.  They re­port­ed­ly found 62 grams of mar­i­jua­na in the front pock­et of the front pas­sen­ger seat, as well as 431 grams of mar­i­jua­na in an­oth­er part of the ve­hi­cle.

Both the dri­ver and pas­sen­ger were ar­rest­ed and are ex­pect­ed to be charged with pos­ses­sion of mar­i­jua­na.

Stolen ve­hi­cles re­cov­ered

In the West­ern Di­vi­sion, a par­ty of of­fi­cers went to An­drew Trace, Blue Basin, and a search of sev­er­al ve­hi­cles along the road­way re­sult­ed in the re­cov­ery of two stolen ve­hi­cles: a Nis­san Syl­phy, which was tak­en away at gun­point on March 8th 2024, in St James; and a Nis­san Cube, which al­so was tak­en away at gun­point on April 2nd, 2024, in Mara­bel­la.

Both ve­hi­cles were wrecked and tak­en to the West End Po­lice Sta­tion.

Fur­ther checks were made, and of­fi­cers found 1,050 grams of mar­i­jua­na in the trunk of the Cube.
