Three sus­pects were ar­rest­ed over the week­end as of­fi­cers seized a firearm, cannabis, and con­tra­band items dur­ing tar­get­ed an­ti-crime op­er­a­tions in the South­ern Di­vi­sion.

A state­ment from the TTPS yes­ter­day, said be­tween 11.30 pm on Sat­ur­day Au­gust 30, and 2 am yes­ter­day, of­fi­cers con­duct­ed an ex­er­cise in the Ste Madeleine Po­lice Dis­trict.

Af­ter sur­veil­lance of sev­er­al drug blocks, pri­or­i­ty of­fend­ers, and lo­cal bars, po­lice ar­rest­ed a 19-year-old man for pos­ses­sion of a firearm and am­mu­ni­tion.

In an­oth­er in­ci­dent, be­tween mid­night and 3 am on Sat­ur­day, a res­i­dence at St Mary’s Vil­lage, Moru­ga, was searched, re­sult­ing in the ar­rest of two men.

A 38-year-old main­te­nance work­er was charged with pos­ses­sion of 75.5 grams of cannabis and con­tra­band items in­clud­ing al­co­hol and cig­a­rettes, while a 24-year-old un­em­ployed man was al­so ar­rest­ed for pos­ses­sion of cannabis and con­tra­band items.
